Installation instructions: F/A-18C Superpit version 2.1,  released Nov 2004

 

This version is intended for a variant of SP3/SP4/FF2/BMS/FF3. So that means you have properly installed Falcon 4.0,
patched with one of the above prior to installing the superpit. Note that only the BMS/FF3 installs allow autoscaling, therefor it is possible to fly in lower resolutions. The other variants are for 1600x1200 res only.

  F/A-18C pit installation
Step 1  Run the F18C_installer, and point F4patch to the correct .exe
Step 2  Select the variant of your installation and apply
Step 3 Run Falcon and select a F/A-18C to fly

 
  F/A-18C nightpit installation
Step 1  Run the Superpits.exe on your desktop and point F4patch to the correct .exe
Step 2  Select the nightpit and apply

 

Installation instructions for Red Viper only:
  F/A-18C Hornet cockpit in Falcon 4.0 with Red Viper:
Step 1  Run the F18C_installer, and point F4patch to the RedViper.exe
Step 2  Select FF3 and apply.
Step 3  Go to Falcon4\art\ckptart\F18C, copy the content and paste it into Falcon4\art\ckptart\FA-18C
Step 4  Open art\ckptart\FA-18C\16_ckpit.dat (rightclick and open with Wordpad)
Step 5  Change the line in the 'manager' area to: cockpit2d 2300 2300;
Step 6 Save the datfile and select an F/A-18C Hornet to fly.

 
  F/A-18C nightpit installation (backlit panels) in Falcon 4.0 with Red Viper:
Step 1  Run the Superpits.exe on your desktop
Step 2  Select the F/A-18C nightpit and apply.
Step 3  Copy the Falcon4\art\ckptart\FA-18C dir to Falcon4\art\ckptartn
Step 4  Copy the content of Falcon4\art\ckptart\F18C to Falcon4\art\ckptartn\FA-18C
Step 5  Run Falcon and select an F/A-18C Hornet to fly at night.

F/A-18C Hornet Superpit features: features:

- Views:
- Smart switching between normal view and wide view (use shift-2)

- Reference page (Shift-1) has a switching to more reference ability like formation flying. The MFD on the right has 'touchscreen' ability, so the MFD can be used while in the reference view.

-  Floodlight
The forward right down panel has a switch on the "INTR LT" panel for "FLOOD" in the "Cockpit" for flying at night with the daytime pit.

- High resolution kneemap of Korea.(This kneemap is for daytime flights only, for night time flights it is advised to use the default maps.)

- Rampstart
It is possible to do a complete rampstart, you will find a rampstart PDF doc in your Falcon4/docs folder, or download the rampstart instruction docs at http://www.cockpits.nl or link above
There are 2 PDF docs, one with and one without pics, the last for printing out a quick checklist.

- Autopilot
A way was found to make the autopilot work very much like the Hornet, use the AP and ON buttons on the UFC (Upfront Control Panel)

- Digital ADI
The 3rd DDI (MFD) has a bunch of features, and there you can enable the digital ADI which will show in the 1st DDI

- HSI/MAP
The 3rd DDI has the ability to switch between the moving map and the HSI, the buttons can be used for switching and adjusting CRS/HDG. The moving map can be lit up at night by applying NVG (key N).

- DISP
This indicator will warn you when the flares/chaff are almost run out of.

- AI indicator
Shows activity on the RWR

- STBY/XMIT
Enabling ECM

- Trim on Stick
There is a imaginary cross on the stick's trim button, using this cross and left and rightclick will let you trim the plane.
